Fares, surges, payouts. No hidden math.
We are not currently asking real riders to book or real drivers to onboard. This page documents the structure we will operate under once the closed pilot opens to public traffic. The fare engine, the surge cap, and the driver commission are server-controlled and disclosed here in advance of ride one.
Rider fares by vehicle
| Vehicle | Base | Per km | Per minute | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Auto | ₹25 | ₹11 | ₹1.0 | 3-wheeler, up to 3 riders. Tier-2 city pilot vehicle of choice. |
| Mini | ₹40 | ₹13 | ₹1.5 | Hatchback, 4 riders. AC. |
| Sedan | ₹55 | ₹16 | ₹1.8 | Sedan, 4 riders, larger boot. |
| SUV | ₹80 | ₹21 | ₹2.2 | 6 riders. Long-distance and group travel. |
Final rider fare = base + (distance_km × per-km) + (estimated_minutes × per-minute), then multiplied by the surge factor (capped 2.5×). GST applies on top per Indian tax law.
Surge multiplier
Surge runs server-side. We do not let the client pick its own multiplier — every booking re-computes surge from the supply / demand ratio at the H3 grid cell of your pickup over the last 5 minutes.
Hard cap: 2.5×. No ride on Swyft is ever charged more than 2.5× the without-surge fare, regardless of demand. This is a product decision, not a regulator-imposed one.
If surge is applied, the booking screen shows both the surge fare and the without-surge fare so you can decide whether to wait or book now.

Frequently asked
Why is Swyft publishing a fare structure if it isn't taking real bookings yet?
Because the audit we ran on ourselves said: do not launch with hidden math. Driver commission, surge, and cancellation fees should be public before the first ride, not buried in a help-center article after launch. This page is the reference riders and drivers will be measured against once the closed pilot opens to public traffic.
Is the fare on the booking screen the fare I will be charged?
Yes. The fare engine runs server-side. Distance, time, vehicle type, and the surge multiplier are computed when you confirm the ride and locked in. Legitimate route changes you authorise mid-trip can adjust the final amount; otherwise the quoted fare is the charged fare.
How does the surge multiplier work?
Surge is server-controlled, never client-spoofable. It is computed from the ratio of unfulfilled ride requests to available drivers in your H3 grid cell over the last 5 minutes. The cap is 2.5×. The applied multiplier is shown to you on the booking screen before you confirm; if it exceeds 1.0× we say so and show the without-surge fare for comparison.
What is the platform commission, and how much does the driver actually get?
Platform commission is 15% of the rider fare (excluding GST). Tips go 100% to the driver. There are no other deductions on a clean ride. We disclose this in the driver dashboard at sign-up so there are no surprises after onboarding.
When do drivers get paid?
Weekly. Every Tuesday at 12:00 IST we settle the previous Monday-to-Sunday earnings to the driver's registered Indian bank account via Razorpay. Drivers see the payout breakdown in the in-app Earnings page before the transfer runs.
What if I cancel my ride?
Free cancellation within 2 minutes of booking, before the driver has started moving toward pickup. Beyond that: ₹15 if cancelled before driver arrives, ₹25 if cancelled after driver has reached pickup. Drivers may decline a request before accepting; once accepted, the first 5 cancellations in any rolling week are free, after which a ₹50 driver-cancel penalty applies.
What if the driver no-shows or takes a clearly wrong route?
Driver no-show within 10 minutes of acceptance: 100% refund and the driver's acceptance score is impacted. Route deviation greater than 2× the optimal distance: partial refund proportional to the deviation, plus a manual review. Disputes that aren't resolved in-app go to /contact and we adjudicate within 4 hours during pilot, 1 hour 24×7 after launch.
