Safety
Safety is non-negotiable.
We are building toward the full safety stack — emergency-button v2, in-app SOS that auto-shares location with local police and a chosen contact, female-rider preference for female-driver matching. Ship dates are not promised; safety is non-negotiable so we will not launch publicly until these features are real, not slogans. Below is what is live today, what is in phase 2, and how we handle reports.
Driver-side safety
KYC verification
Driver's licence verified against SARTHI, vehicle RC against VAHAN, PAN cross-checked, bank account verified via penny-drop. We block 'going online' if any of these is missing or expired.
Background check
Run via Signzy (or equivalent third-party CKYC / criminal-record provider). Drivers consent at onboarding. Result is binary go/no-go; the underlying artefacts are not retained beyond the regulator-required period.
Vehicle insurance
Current insurance is required and verified at onboarding. The app blocks 'going online' the moment your policy expires, with an in-app re-upload flow to restore service.
In-app emergency button
Phase 2 in-app SOS that auto-shares location with local police 112 and a chosen contact. Today, the in-app emergency button is a phone-link to 112 — functional but not the full v2 experience we want to ship.
Rider-side safety
Trip share with a trusted contact
Phase 2: one-tap share of the live ride to a contact of your choice — they see the route, the driver name, the vehicle, and an arrival ETA. Today: SMS share with a static booking link.
Real-time GPS broadcast
Phase 2: continuous broadcast of your location to your trusted contact for the duration of the ride. Stops automatically when the ride ends.
In-app emergency button
Phone-link to 112 today. Phase 2 upgrades it to an SOS that broadcasts location to police and your contact in a single tap.
Female-rider preference (planned)
Female riders will be able to opt for a female driver where availability allows. Not yet shipped — depends on female-driver supply, which we are actively recruiting for in the pilot.
Ratings, thresholds, and zero-tolerance rules
| Rule | Threshold | Consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Driver rating | Below 4.0 (rolling 50 rides) | Account flagged for human review. Repeated offences or specific safety reports lead to suspension. |
| Rider rating | Below 4.5 (rolling 50 rides) | Warning issued; further low ratings or driver-reported incidents lead to platform suspension. |
| Harassment / impaired driving | Single substantiated report | Zero tolerance — immediate suspension pending investigation. We cooperate with police investigations on bona fide FIRs. |
Reporting an incident
If you are in immediate physical danger, call 112 first. Then file a structured report so the safety team can investigate.
Go to incident reportWhat we will not do
We will not market a feature as live until it is. Where the section above says "phase 2", that means it is on the build queue but not yet in your hands. We would rather under-promise on safety than over-promise.
